Privacy Policy
How Qaaf Systems handles information when you use Ma'arij.
Information We Handle
- Offline Data: XP, mastery, review cards, settings, and local match history stay on your device. Nearby Duels exchange match data directly between participating devices.
- Account and Profile Data: email address, display name, username, country, account ID, avatar selection, and account settings.
- Online and Social Data: matchmaking choices, answers, response times, scores, ratings, progress, match history, followers, challenges, public Fawa'id notes, reactions, blocks, reports, and moderation records. A Fawa'id note remains private unless you publish it.
- Plus Learning Data: learning paths, sittings, practice attempts, completed teach-backs, Guide messages and responses, citations, private Plus Fawa'id, and Plus preferences.
- Technical Data: app, browser, and device details, notification registration, crash diagnostics, optional app analytics, pages viewed, visit time, referring page, a random browser identifier, IP address, and approximate location. Website session replay is off.
How We Use Information
We use this information to create and secure accounts, provide online matches and rankings, save progress, deliver social and Plus features, send optional notifications, investigate reports and failures, prevent abuse, provide support, and improve Ma'arij. We do not sell personal information, show ads, or use data for targeted advertising.
Service Providers and Sharing
Supabase processes account authentication. Our contracted hosting providers store and serve account, match, social, learning, website, and diagnostic data. Google Firebase Cloud Messaging delivers optional notifications. PostHog processes website analytics and optional in-app analytics. Google Gemini processes the Guide message, recent Guide context, and approved source passages needed to return an answer. Google Play may process purchase and app-distribution records. We may also disclose information when required by law or needed to protect users and the service.
Your Choices
You can play offline without an account, turn optional notifications and app analytics off in the app, block website analytics through your browser, avoid entering personal information into Ma'arij Guide, and request account deletion. Quran audio questions play reference recitations. Optional Live Recitation processes microphone audio on your device and discards it after each attempt. Audio is never uploaded. You can deny microphone access or turn recitation rounds off and keep using the other features.
Live Recitation
Offline practice works after a one-time model download from GitHub. During Online 1v1 recitation rounds, the app sends only its recognition result, represented as phonemes, for server scoring. The server discards that recognition result after checking the verse and retains the normal round outcome, points, and timing. Microphone audio and recognition results are excluded from analytics and diagnostic reports. Word matching does not assess tajweed or pronunciation.
Retention and Account Deletion
We keep online account and learning data while your account is active. Website analytics and restricted server access logs, including IP addresses, may be kept for up to 12 months. After a verified deletion request is processed, we remove the account, public profile, social connections, online progress, Plus learning records, and notification registration. Limited tombstoned match, safety, fraud-prevention, diagnostic, or legal records may remain only as long as needed and no longer expose the deleted profile. Remove offline data by resetting progress, clearing app storage, or uninstalling Ma'arij. See Account Deletion.
Security and Children's Privacy
Ma'arij uses encrypted network connections, authenticated access controls, and restricted administrative access. No system can guarantee absolute security. Children who cannot consent on their own should use online features only with permission from a parent or guardian.
